St. Jude Heroe's Program

One of DCCS' main partners is St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. DCCS has raised thousands of dollars for them over the years, as part of our annual Holiday Lights Run. Why not become a St. Jude Hero!

Runners who fundraise for St. Jude while training for their race are part of a nationwide alliance against childhood cancer. They're called St. Jude Heroes.

Registering for your race as a St. Jude Hero means an online training program, race-day extras — from a St. Jude singlet to hotel accommodations, depending on your event and fundraising commitment — and free race entry into the most exclusive races in the U.S.

Rock 'n' Roll Marathon Series

St. Jude is honored to be the featured charity for the Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon Series. Run for free when you register as a committed St. Jude fundraiser for most Rock ‘n’ Roll events in the U.S. and Canada – including Rock N’ Roll DC, Rock N’ Roll Virginia Beach, and Rock N’ Roll Philadelphia.

Marine Corps Marathon

October 29, 2018

The St. Jude Heroes program will continue its partnership with Marine Corps Marathon in 2018. They have 100 entries for the Marathon, and 20 entries for the 10K.

How fundraising helps?

The money that St. Jude Heroes raise help ensure families never receive a bill from St. Jude for treatment, travel, housing or food — because all a family should worry about is helping their child live.

Treatments developed at St. Jude have helped to push the overall childhood cancer survival rate from 20 percent when the hospital opened in 1962 to more than 80 percent today, and St. Jude won’t stop until no child dies from cancer/
