Fun Fact: This run was our inaugural run in April 2006. 5 runners showed up on the National Mall. The group grew from there!

Shannon C (September 2025) - In January 2024, I went to a run with the Smithsonian group led by Guillermo. I wanted to make some new social connections through a hobby I already had. DC Capital Striders exceeded my expectations. I remember forging close connections almost instantly with the other runners. That week, I found myself showing up at Shaw/Bloomingdale and Saturday Dupont Circle runs too. Eventually, I was hanging out with the crew beyond the running meet-ups and meeting for things like trivia, concerts, movies, wine tours, hikes, and even other run groups (shout out North East Track Club). Joining DC Capital Striders for weekly runs has become a staple in my weekly schedule and a fantastic way to unwind after work, explore DC, and even improve my running!
